Screencast is a video recording of your screen. You can use it to demonstrate and teach the use of software features; as an online video lecture; to give video feedback on assignments and more.
Pencast is a recording of your writings or drawings, typically with a voice
over, where you explain your formulas, equations, words etc.

Who is the workshop for?
The workshop is aimed at those who have no or only little experience with screencasts/ pencasts and who would like to get an introduction to using one or both as a teaching tool.
After the workshop you will be able to:
- Understand the basic concepts and opportunities of working with screencasts and pencasts
- Understand the basics of a good online screencast/ pencast for teaching
- Make a screencast using Screencast-o-matic
- Edit your screencast after recording
- Make a pencast using Explain Everything for iPad/ Android
- Publish your screencast/ pencast to Absalon
Practical information
The workshop is focused on hands-on exercises and we will therefore recommend that you identify something that you want to record before you come. We will demonstrate the Screencast-O-Matic software and Explain Explain Everything.
We recommend, that you bring your own laptop (for screencast) and/ or tablet
(pencast), but we have computers available here and some iPads as well.
